THE REPUBLIC OF POLJICA ELECTRIC MTB PRIVATE GUIDED TOUR

The tour starts at 8:30 with professional bike fitting. During the tour we will visit some parts of the historical republic of Poljica, and we will learn a lot about its history and traditions. We will start cycling from Split towards a nice little coastal town of Stobreč, a historical village established as Epetium, an Ancient Greek colony on the Illyrian coast, but which is now a charming suburb of Split. After exploration of Stobreč, we will continue towards the village of Žrnovnica, cycling along a small river that carries the same name. From there we will climb the uphill to reach some 300 meters of altitude from where we will have a fantastic view on the city of Split, Stobreč and surrounding islands. The road we will be cycling on from that point onwards is mostly unpaved, and it leads you through Gornja Podstrana village, Gornje Jesenice village and other small historical places on the way towards Omiš. On this scenic MTB cycling trail you will constantly have an amazing view on the Adriatic sea. At the same time you will have a chance to see how people used to live, and many of them are still living in old stone houses, while working on their fields producing vegetables, olives, fruits and so forth. Once in Omiš, you will be taken on a guided walking tour through history of Omiš, rich with stories and legends of pirates. After a lunchbreak, the several kilometers long paved road will take us above the beautiful canyon of the river Cetina towards the village of Gata, the center of the Republic of Poljica in which leaders of the republic were chosen every year. From Gata we will cycle along very quiet paved road to Sitno Gornje from where we will have a long unpaved road down the hill towards Žrnovnica. From there we will cycle to Split.
